Our policy influencing tracking template is held within our software, OutNav. Viewing the template does not require an OutNav subscription.

The policy influencing template has been developed using our approach to understanding and tracking complex, people-based change, which is grounded in contribution analysis.

Graphic showing an animated character in purple, wearing glasses, reviewing a digital report on a tablet. To the left, a stylized browser window with a dashboard of colorful status stepping stones within a simplified outcome map, connected to a padlock icon by a dashed arrow, symbolizing secure data transfer to the tablet screen displaying the same information.

The template includes:

  • A generic policy influencing strategy – without a specific topic – expressed in the form of an outcome map.

  • Common risks and assumptions around policy influencing work that need to be taken into consideration, i.e. what can go wrong or get in the way and what needs to be in place for the work to be successful.

  • A range of example evidence sources that organisations typically use to evidence specific aspects of the change process.

  • Some success criteria that can be used to guide thinking about progress.
